The Department of Tropical Research (DTR), founded by William Beebe, carried out intensive ecological investigations in terrestrial and oceanographic settings. Collection spans the extent of the DTR's history and activities, without arrangement by locality or type of expedition. Included are historical subjects; reports, 1916-1962; William Beebe miscellany; Gloria Hollister biographical sketch and scrapbooks; vertebrate identifications and miscellaneous correspondence, 1916-1953; copied texts; research station guest books, 1916-1971; vertebrate and invertebrate specimen catalogs, 1916-1958; catalog of color plates, drawings, and motion pictures, 1919-1940; and reference card file to literature and specimens. Other DTR staff represented in this collection include Jocelyn Crane and John Tee-Van.
